@CongressmanCYD I was USAF, Pleiku AB, 2nd Air Commandos. We flew A1E Skyraiders, close air support along with AC-47 Spooky in '66. '67. Camp Holloway was nearby, 4th Army. It is another lifetime when I think about it, like it never happened. I am overwhelmed by the support thrown to our troops. I am mystified at the sinful lack of same we did not get and sorely wanted and needed.

Great music from well before my time, born in '65 and the BIG ROCK keeps on turning...wars, and rumours of wars, round and round and round we go. Served in first Gulf war as well as '99-2008, some old stuff, many wonder why the H*** we went to Iraq and Afghanistan. John Kerry certainly helped moral when he announced "get STUCK in IRAQ" if you don't get an education, some lead from a microphone, others lead in their CHARIOT in the heat of the battle! Ike and JFK new how to fight, now who does?

@Propylnitrite following orders you sorry waste of flesh & blood. most of those there had no desire to be there and all the rich boys bought themselves out. the worst experiences were had over there and unity of brothers was felt high. No one wanted to be there, if u want to be mad at someone be mad at Westmoreland, be mad at Nixon, not a young American that had no choice but to aid his brothers. so whoever you speak of is woefully misguided

jody i am sure you picked that name for a reason ,we all know who jody was .your posts seem so sad .can you not read a post and not critique the writing.just enjoy the music thats all you have to do

@Propylnitrite Shows how little you know about the US. Some simple research shows that roughly 58,000 US soldiers were killed in Vietnam, compare that to roughly 1,100,000 NVA + VC's killed. Sounds like we did pretty well.
I'm not sure where anyone got their information, but US troops were in Nam before 1965. I should know. I was in Special Forces and was in Nam early in 1964 and I knew guys who had been there before me. One of the things that I remember so vividly was missing the music that I grew up on in the Bronx, on the street corners, in the hallways, where ever the guys (and girls) could get together. I still miss it today.

@BronxOldtimer1942 You're absolutely right. The first military advisor of the war died in '56. Diem's administration wanted the US as limited combat advisors, whereas Big Minh wanted US combat troops. Thanks for your service, friend. The war was a just cause. Check out veteran Phillip Jennings' book The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Vietnam War.
