This video was produced in February of 2009 on a spur of the moment idea. This is nothing more than a little jab at the type of person we have all met at one time or another at a paintball field. The guy who has the in style attire, mask and rag. He has the trendy marker and the lingo to match. This is also the guy who runs around with ramping turned on and mows down the rental players and thinks he's got skill...

I might redo this as I really wanted to get people dressed up for the event and use current equipment but it still comes through ok.

As a final note I fully expect to see some people (who won't read this of course) cry about how I am either vilifying Smart Parts and that the whole anti-SP thing is sooooooo 2005 (gotta stay trendy ya know!). Unfortunately for you and your little soap box SP is included as a statement of fact rather than a jab.

To my understanding, at the Chicago NPPL of 1998, Smart Parts All American team unveiled their team Shockers complete with the newly developed "turbo mode." Aside form some ROF cap differences it appears that turbo mode is the mother to all future spawned coding that allows the marker to fire more shots than pulls of the trigger based on how fast the user pulls the trigger.

Both markers used were Matrix series (often called DM3's) with Rotor hoppers and Tadao M3 boards set to 20bps ramping. Just 3 taps and they take off.

  • @MRfyocouch1 .02 cents? so a two-hundreth of a cent? You mean my 2 cents. Its not really possible to have .02 cents lol. I know what you mean tho lol.

  • Haha makes me love my phantom

  • The most beautiful plays I've ever seen in paintball were single-shot eliminations from pumps or mechs. Those are the shots I want to make. Ramping and force-feed doesn't inspire me.

  • hahahahah

  • @aznb0128 scare off ur enemies with semi. people do it with pump so why cant you do it with semi? not being an asshole, just making a point

  • dafuq is that shit ^^

  • i remember back in the day when i first started playing, everyone would ask " how fast are the guns" or something of that nature and the answer was always "however fast you can pull the trigger". i miss those days. i dont fully diagree with ramping, but at least limit it more, i dont play ramping at all just becasue its too exspensive.

  • a player who ramps against newbies is the type of person who ruins this sport. I for one, play tourney ball at the national level and we use psp ramp. This mode was set to level out the playing field in a tournament. Now those who use it in rec play are distroying this sport by turning people away from fields as well as getting involved with the pb community. Just my .02 cents

  • i watched this before and was like HELL YEAH. but now I'm just like "why didn't you sit there and wait for him to waste his paint and then bunker his ass?"

  • Ramping is a good mode to scare off ur enemies and making a run for it and using as cover fire but what the video showed me was those 2 people dont deserve to ramp and suk at paintball.

  • AGD all the way

  • Just played last Sunday. We had a guy from a speedball team come out with his high end electro. He was slingin' ropes all day. I crawled down a shallow dry creekbed and came up behind him and took him out with my mech trigger BT-4 Combat. He never even saw me. lol. So yea, ramping does not equal skill. Especially in the woods. lol. I actually have it on video if I can ever get it to F*$^%#@ING load!!!!!

  • @wcjcnc This is true. Now get 5 guys with incredible skill....and ramping like no tomarrow. It becomes Very competitive and hard to stay alive, and thus a league is born where all the best teams in the world compete.

  • This video is pointless, who cares about the mode. Besides, one of the largest leagues in the world uses it(and not out of control like you have portrayed)

It makes gives players an advantage in holding lanes, and alternately makes it more difficult to move.

The way you play is your preference, there is no need to hate one way or the other, it is ALL paintball.

  • That also isnt standard PSP ramp... That sounds like 20-25 bps.

  • @Jesusfreek534 you win lol.

  • @MatrixPaintball read the description they are both matrixes

  • there is nothing wrong with it... its just prefrence

  • I use a stock mech marker and I don't mind playing against players with ramping. Actually I run a private field and even though I use a stock mech marker I allow ramping, full auto, and any other mode you think you need to get through the day. The woods we play in are like a jungle, literally. So knowing how to get around and use the terrain and cammo can really level the playing field. So wear your 10 pod pack and charge up your batteries and bring it.

  • @wcjcnc Totally agree. Spraying and praying is like pissing money into the wind. It might work through sheer math, but I'm more impressed by a single shot, or a quick burst from a mechanical gun taking me out. By aiming. At me. Not the entire treeline.

  • @924bak ramping mode is being able to set x number of registered BPS to automatically increase to x number of fired BPS. Usually, ramp is set at 10bps to ramp up to 15+, meaning when you physically shoot with your fingers 10bps, your marker will actually start firing at 15+bps.

  • @924bak Ramping - is a feature in some electronic markers that automatically changes the mode of fire from semi-automatic to fully automatic under certain conditions; normally upon a certain number of rapid shots being fired or a minimum rate of fire achieved and sustained.

  • im kind of new to paintball, what is ramping. is it a type of firing mode or what. please comment.

  • Yea, we have guys at our woodsball field that spray a hopper full of paint at everything that moves and think they got skill when they eliminate someone. lol. You want to impress me? Start the game with just a hopper full of paint and show me your REAL skill. I actually like going up against people that spray and pray. It's more of a challenge and I do just fine. I use a mech trigger. So charge up your batteries and BRING IT. A high rate of fire will never trump real skill.

  • and if the rental people are gonna bitch about it then have it so that noobies play with other noobs and people with there own guns play together then no one has to deal with it
