Hi! Well, finally i got the chance to upload grass tutorial. I apologize for delay, but now you can take a look. The sound and my english aren't perfect, even i tried to make decent quality, but i think it's accpetable enough.
It is a bit longer that i expected, but i've tried to go slower just to make sure it is understandable. Now, i personaly prefer this way of creating grass, and one of the reasons for that, is pleasure that i can see the grass as it is in final render.
The other thing about the video, quality is a bit lower after i've upload it on youtube, and it's not that bad, but when i get the chance l'll replace it with the HD version.
So, enjoy! :)

  • thank you work perfect , the only think my machine sucks at high quantity of partciles :S

  • @stashhh

Thanks! If computer is a bit slower just go to the 'Display' panel under particles and reduce to something lower than default 100. Witch means that you can keep higher settings, but if you hit F12 and render, everything should be in place, only in viewport number will be reduced, so you can keep high quantity of particles. It should solve the problem.

Ok, i'm not sure, but it might be position of the pivot point, it has to be at the bottom of the straw, if it's not, probably something around particle setup. But i'm only guessing, you could send me the .blend file with that problem, and i'll try to see what causing it.

  • why dont you uses the hair function in particle the tap?

Nice tutorial, thanks... i tryed to do exact the same grass a couple of day ago, well, it didnt looked as god as yours... thanks a lot....

  • @MrLazzly

    Hi! Thanks.

I tried with hair as well, but emitter works just the way i want. There were some deferences that made me use emitter. I'm trying to optimize scene as much as i can, when object is duplicated than scene gets pretty heavy, and just few options needed. But in the end, either way can be just fine.

  • Only the first grass i make gets rendered, the rest are just black. In texture view mode they are all textured though, any ideas?

    Thanks for the tutorial!

  • @Killadey

I'm not sure. Can you send me .blend file (with textures)? I didn't had that problem before. I'll take a look and answer as soon as i can.

  • Hey great video! I'm making mine an animation but no matter what i try the particles just fall to the bottom of the screen.

    Thanks

  • Now when i do it my particles are 4 feet above the surface, I've done this countless times since watching this and now it wont work, why is blender such a head f***!

  • I tried this again and all my particles are 2 feet above the surface, any ideas?

  • Great tutorial my dude . You seem like you know what your doing .

  • @AndarionCGart My issue resolved itself, it was to do with how the materials were assigned to the objects. Thanks for your kind offer :)
