Video online since 2009 and no hate comments, just insightful debate on a high intellectual level? With Ayn Rand in the title? I don't believe this!

Employers and employees exchange productivity for wealth at an agreed upon value because it is beneficial to each of their selfish and thereby ultimately moral needs. Neither needs anyone. Either is free to go their own way at any time, unless of course government forces a collectivist morality on one or the other. But then free will and freedom is destroyed. You do not understand objectivism at all.

Bullshit discussion about a philosophy not adopted by any mainstream political party - and rightly so.

"selfish and thereby ultimately moral"
Yikes. Sometimes I have to remind myself that there are actually people who believe this trash.

$2,500 in today's dollars is worth roughly $17,000. Ballpark guesstimate.

Is it ignorant to say Rands philosophy of objectivism borders on hedonism while simultaneously rejecting it? Or am I just way off? I'm not trying to be a pretentious idiot, I'm just trying to get some legitimate sort of second opinion to guide me. Thanks

Also, acknowledge fully how you act and why. What we call reason, happens because of how we rationalize thoughts based on our emotional state. We humans are both reason AND emotions. We need to follow our reason always, yes, but we need to reason taking into consideration our emotions and those of others around us. Otherwise, we won't be making any progress. Get Ayn Rand's ideas, and build on them in a smart way: it's faster and easier to make a living when you belong to a healthy community

To illustrate, if you live a wealthy and healthy life, but the town next to your place is awfully poor and full of illnesses, then you can't leave home without getting robbed or infected... You have 3 decisions to make: 1) Put your higher education and wealth to improve the situation 2) Leave the area 3) Do nothing... Alternatives 2 or 3 will bring sub-optimal results compared to the potential choice 1 offers.

Ayn Rand phylosophy is a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, many people take it in an incomplete fashion, and use objectivism as an excuse to be selfish to the point they are inconsiderate of others, and ultimately, just plainly stupid. By neglecting their fellow neighbor, a man also brings distress to his own life... A man has to think first of himself, yes, but also needs to think of the community he belongs to. Thinking of your own community and its welfare it's also selfish, yet ok
