Here´s my famous 1000 m race against a Dutch super sprinter - and the snow in Inzell in my first skating season 2005/6. The snowfall was so heavy that it was IMPOSSIBLE to see anything. The Dutch sprinter, Van Benthem, crashed. I continued, but changed lane into the warm up lane and did NOT know where I was on the track. So I didn´t stop until I heard the speaker say: "New national record - but DQ for changing lane". Ironically, this sprint world cup was NOT attended by a lot of athletes, so I succeeded in qualifying for the world cup final on the 100 m !! Well done for an antisprinter

  • He he Willeke - It was certainly a historical race. It´s never gonna snow like that in Inzell anymore!

It was really impossible to see anything -especially without glasses!!

The next day was definitely better!

  • @cathrinegrage I thought "visibility" was not an issue in skating like it is in diving.......
