This is a look into the digital special effects I used to make my short film "Whose Time Is It Anyway?" which can be found on my account here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncMPGgNOD_o

This film was shot on a zero budget so the tools I used are hopefully helpful to inspire others to stretch the current limits of what their video making creativity.

For those of you interested, the program I use for these effects is called Discrete Combustion. I use Sony Vegas Video for most of my basic editing.

If this interests you, check out my look into my music video special effects here:

  • Zero budget? You must have bought the green screen and Combustion?

  • @reeno224 They were items I already had, like the camera. I did not buy them for this production. Technically I did buy water for the actors so you got me! :) Thanks for your interest.

  • This is very cool, Gabe! I never saw this before! Very impressive how you did it all!

  • @reeno224 and the camera and the actors :)

  • At 2:45 now a days you could just use After Effects and use Rotobrush to get the hat.

  • What moviemaker was that?

  • this helped me quite alot, i want to the exact same thing, just on the top of worlds tallest building (burj khalifa) but it will be a horror, and i might use green screen or just go up there on a non-busy day. who knows, but thank you for the video...

  • VERY FASINATING AND THE RESULT WAS IMPRESSIVE. IT MADE ME NEROUS TO WATCH!

  • Now dont get me wrong its x-i-lent but i wish you would of showed something more but its great i really love special effects because of the things you can do. The thing is getting to the yite video to learn these things. ppl are half ass these days

  • I don't know how combustion works, but I would've done a 3D (in either combustion if it has it or a 3D program if there isn't 3D functionality) building wall so it looks like they're actually on the edge of a building because no building I've ever seen has just an edge like that.
