I can't stop laughing. I have been thinking for years about disassembling a RC beefing up the darlingtons in it, and then cannibalizing a barbie car or bigfoot for the two motors and gear drives which have tremendous torque. But i'll still have to be consistently present. With this method I can be working in the shed or etc and only partially attending it

Why not have a pole with a greater diameter, so the mower doesn't overlap so much? It would make it much more efficient.

The pole diameter has nothing to do with the overlap. It's the hose reel drum circumference which is about 21 inches. The mower deck is 22 inches. So each wrap allows a slight overlap in the cutting path. Part 1 shows this better. It takes about 20 minutes to complete the job.
