  • @salvadory I own two analogue synths (MFB Synth II and a Doepfer A100 modular system) so I'm well aware of the subtleties of their sound. It did not however convert me to go all analogue and I still find digital synths to be quite appealling. A Yamaha DX7 would be nice.

I never argued that there's no difference, so don't put words into my mouth. I basically said that good music is not tied down on what gear is used. However, "good music" is entirelly subjective and never factual.

  • @TheShledge once again if you cant hear the sonic difference then that says alot about your poor audio sense and perhaps your age as many people are used to overcompressed mp3 files etc so you have no comparison- tools are tools and a mountain of analogs played poorly wont make great music- yes this is very true- however a mountain of digital gearplayed poorly will sound alot worse

  • @IAmBound

Personally for myself a mixture of digital/analogue works quite well. I was looking at the Blofeld recently, really need a synth that can sound really digital if it wanted.

Some people like what people consider the negative characteristics of digital, for example people who are into chiptunes. The SID ships in the c64 (commonly used in chiptunes) provide digital oscillators in 8 bit, but are very sought after.

  • @salvadory Tools are tools, just because you want to swim in your self-made ocean of analogue jizz does not mean your music will be better. I've seen people use the latest and greatest, ran through valve amps etc. They've made nothing but boring lifeless shit, IMO.

People argue about which gear is the best rather than actually making music need to grow up. It's not what you use, but HOW you use it.

  • Occasionaly you might want a sharp harsh sounding lead or bass in your music? Just an idea. I have an M-Audio venom which is fully digital and I love it. Digital can make some sounds analog would never be capable of. On the other hand Analog can make sounds a digital synth would never be able to achieve.

  • @patriciasmokes actually i use a korg ms 20 ic controller with the legacy software- its close to the original for 200$ used instead of 1800 for a real analog original- its passable but ok ill say 95% of digital stuff sucks in regards to synths- ofocurse i use logic etc for recording because of affordibilty but if i were a big artist i would record all to analog tape because it sounds better hands down

  • @salvadory

no it's not about taste. taste is subjective. however, you are saying that EVERY piece of digital gear sucks and that's just extremely retarded. a lot of analog stuff does sound more human and warm by nature, but that doesn't mean that "all digital stuff" sucks.

  • @bloodySunday77 sonicstate review says it all about the gotharman- painful harsh cold glitchy and hard to get around the parameters cumbersome etc- ie not very musical and time wasting- like 95% of digital gear and even some modern analog stuff and va synths- great for shitty thin trebly techno-noise if youre into that sort of thing

  • @bloodySunday77 i owned a mopho and hated the interface- though admittadly i hate anything with scrolls and menus and that includes the moog little phatty which also suffers from the same problem as well as loooking cheap and plastic- as far as digital id agree i have used an occassional digital synth or drum machine but since analog does everyhting warm and musical and better i seldom need to

  • @salvadory No, he is not. I HAVE spent time with the Mopho, and its interface is excellent. As for the "digital crap"... man, take good sounds wherever you find them and throw any prejudice in the garbage where it belongs.
