@bbuteo And I know why: his intention wasn't teach how to process the drum, but crank the plugins to the exaustation to compare 'em
:)

i have the Opto and its cool...the LA2A plug seems to keep the resonance of the drums while leveling....vote for the LA2A.....i needs that plug.
-

Tracks 3 quality impressed me when I tried it, plugins have advanced so much.

you had ruin the drums sound--lol, cheers friend( just my opinion, please please dont take it bad)
The attack on the La2a is slow--so you shouldnt be anywhere near 1ms on the Tracks opto--unless the UA plug is extremely inaccurate

There's a BIG problem with this shoot-out. The LA-2A compressor has a static attack time of approx. 10 miliseconds. And a release time of approx. 60 miliseconds. Look it up on Wikipedia (which reference service manuals).
The ratio for the compress setting is approx. 4:1 but it fluctuates depending on the source. You put the Opto plugin in essentially a limiting mode at a 12:1 ratio.
The biggest flaw in this comparison though is that the LA2A wasn't meant for drums. Vox, bass, piano...yes.
