I cannot fault people for being conformists; after all, at the end of the day we are but simple animals thrust into this strange world of consciousness and we haven't the slightest clue what to do with it, and being social creatures, we do as others do because there is nothing worse than being abandoned by the group. Maybe conformists don't have the courage to break free, maybe they lack the imagination or willpower, but is it really their fault?

@mitchtheman28 These adults that adapt to things like workplace clothing conventions have atleast accepted that they cannot break free from the herd. Hipsters and anyone else trying to coin new "fashion" pursue a "false sense of individuality" in that they think they can escape from the herd by wearing the same piece of clothing 300,000 other people also bought. I believe that true individuality can exist but only in your mind, not in the form of fabric wrapped around you.

This is amazing.

@selubria You weren't supposed to take "every" literally. herbprophet meant to say that MANY idiots are getting tattoos because it's the rebellious thing to do right now. It's what's acceptable among people pretending to be rebellious.
"Look at the colorful shape on the least noticable part of skin on my body, I despise norms! Do you like it? Do you approve of my individuality? Should I get another one or would that make me TOO special?"
It's just another fad.

@herbprophet Yeah, I think tattoos are nothing more than fashion.
They had a long starting phase but now they have become more accepted, to the point where the only way to shock anyone is to put them on your face. Only total outcasts like prisoners and Mike Tyson do that.
But piercings are becoming the substitute that regular people have been looking for. Always as revolutionary as you want to be - if your new employer doesn't like them you can take them out.

@herbprophet To say that every idiot has a stupid trendy tattoo is blatantly false. There are plenty of idiots found within the circles of non-tattooed people. The only constant difference between tattooed people and un-tattooed people is that, tattooed people don't care if you don't have tattoos. Such a statement is only the bi-product of closed mindedness, a regurgitation from the narrow bowels of your ego-centric perception. You must be very multicultural hahahaha.

@SuckItLily it's like tattoos, every idiot has them, and it's just stupid and trendy.

3:00 This applies perfectly to the so-called hipsters and their false sense of individuality. Weird shit isn't weird when everyone does it and "retro" wasn't invented by these people. It's actually the most obvious trend of the last decade.
The reason most adults, no matter how progressive, at some point stop adapting to current fads is not that they don't understand them, it's that they have finally understood them. Unfortunately for me I did as a child.
i would consider myself a hermit and an outsider. I dont like the way society has been programmed to be. I dont find our materialistic society unusfull and unfullfilling, i only like what i need to be happy, but i do have a couple of things i enjoy, internet and my motorcycle. when i have enough money saved im going to the amazon to live and do ayahuasca. Its the only thing i know of in this world that has spirituality. the war on drugs is keeping us from the truth.
