nah -- macbooks wit montevinas will be coming Jan 2009 - they always update @ new year. - but maybe they will update for the holdays =D

there's always Ebay! - you can find the latest macs on ebay -- go to express . ebay . com to get the NEW sealed packages.

bah!! - you cna use bootcamp to install vista / xp -- and from 2008 January, the macbook pro NOW SUPPORTS 64 Bit versions of windows vista!!! so dont worry -- and sorry if i sounded harsh about it (the "BAH")

BUT, the Montevina chipset will be in the macbooks that have HD support, and as some rumors go even a Blu Ray optical drive. so im really waiting for the MBP that has a HD screen. that's when im gona buy mine.

I was facing the same dilema.
m sure yu know montevina is delayed. gna be released on the 15th July now. I doubt that it will be in the macbook pros until... like a couple of months after that...
I came to a decision of not waiting for montevina. I decided to go for the Penryn.
thats a great machine anyways, and with the specs you were aiming for, you should be pleased with it.

I know what you mean, I have a HP that I hate but I just can't go out and spend 2000.00 dollars on a pc. I sure will be saving up for a Macbook Pro. I would just buy it now if I were you. It really all depends on how much money you have to spend.

Wish i could help but i am in the same dilemma. (I want to become a switcher from windows but i am waiting for the right time)
I waited for Penryn but i haven't seen a big difference in the end, so i will wait once again for the next update (hopefully a chassis update too).

when i watch you're video, i think you already made up you're mind. go for the macbook pro which is aviable right now...you safe some cash and you don't have to wait any longer. and beside all of this. you are sick and tired of you're dell!
or just wait till july ;-) (kidding, go for the macbook pro which is aviable now, looking forward to the unboxing)

I know what you guys are saying and yes mac laptop is not for gaming but i'm not a gamer I just want to play a game or two on a reliable laptop like the macbook pro. I don't need another dell or some hp...I have a dell and I can't stand it anymore...

I would wait - Two months is not that long a wait. I think when they do roll around you may be disappointed that you did not wait.

It's not 2 months I'm not in the states, I have to wait at least 3 months and I still have to pay like 1200 dollars at least more than you guys...
