Project 10 to the 100 GoogleClan.com: Every Familys hearth online: key dates, family lore, heritage, tradition, song, ritual, memory- either shared worldwide, within the family or kept private.
GoogleClan.com will be a secure online place for inter-family networking, free from commercial tracking and exploitation of family data. It will be a safe place to introduce children to the internet with all the functionality of todays social networking services. But above all it will be designed to connect todays family to the generations that follow, forever.
The technology already exists, but has not yet been unified into a single, family oriented and integrated interface which is safe and easy for all the family to use, whether they are 9 or 90. GoogleClan.com will be the portal to that interface. Once you enter GoogleClan, you are home- in your familys home on the internet. You will be surrounded by your familys internet memorabilia, in just a click or two, you can check out the additions to the family albums and the whats new lists of the people you love. You can quickly review a summary of your kids internet activity and easily adjust the nanny settings as necessary. Your daily feed of sports results or celebrity gossip is waiting for you in the usual place.
In short your internet home is YOUR castle, you are in control and like any home its as tidy or as cluttered, as quiet or as noisy, as calm or as chaotic, as YOU choose it to be! (Of course your partner and the kids may have something to say about it too, but thats family life for you, offline or online).
Sophie notices in the Familys unique event calendar that next Sunday is the anniversary of the death of the Grandfather she never knew, because he had died a month before she was born- some 16 years earlier. She visits Grandma on Sunday and spends the whole afternoon getting to know him. She discovers that he too, like her, enjoyed writing and her Grandmother lends her the notebooks full of his poems and short stories. Over the next few weeks Sophie adds his words to the treasure chest of family heirlooms in their GoogleClan homespace and then she publishes it within the extended family.
Another golden thread in the fabric of a familys life has been spun!

Of course, the vast internet still exosts and you can leave your GoogleClan portal. In which case you will notice that you are outside in another world where you are definitely not the one in control, which is fine, as long as you can go home whenever you have had enough. Just click your heels and you are there- maybe you should click your mouse too.

Hi Globalunimoger?

I think you just view the video and then move the cursor to the area where there are stars which is below the video. As you move across the stars, they are highlighted and a comment appears just a bit to the right 'awsome' 'pretty cool' etc. You simply choose the level of approval that you feel is appropriate and click on that star.
