  • well if I were to buy a non built into cell phone device projector, ide prefer the LED lit one due to its fewer cheaper parts to replace. laser projectors have well... lasers and im sure each of us have found out how short lived those can be. Blue usually dies first then green and you will be left with a very red image..

  • 3M has developed their own pico projector that uses an LED light source. That means it will be very similar to the one in this video and suffer the same drawbacks.

Microvision's pico projector uses lasers as the light source. It's a completely different animal.

Don't be surprised a year from now if you start seeing "Microvision Inside" or "PicoP Inside" stickers on all kinds of electronics the way you see with Intel and Nvidia. If/when that happens, you'll wish you'd invested in MVIS stock!

  • the projection unit is the same one. It's a 3M unit. It's the same as the Pico

  • That projection module is huge compared to Microvision's PicoP engine. Plus Microvision's solution is laser based. That means more vibrant colours and an image that's always in focus. It should also draw less power and have better contrast, higher resolution, and lower heat.

No wonder the stock's been taking off like a rocket now that they've started shipping product!

  • I bet it's around 1 Lumens and needs total darkness.

  • the peeps behind it are israel based.
