I think this scene was actually a good argument for atheism.

To me , Paul is the first betrayer of Jesus message ...

There's just way to many problems with this idea of christianity for it to have any credibility whatsoever.

I see guys like this in the local mall, yelling at people as they pass by about miracles and Jesus...Some things never change.

Cross has big power in exorcism...only becouse Jesus was die on cross.Bible has power...becouse this is word of Jesus and GOD.

@Kajensey3 Scorsese didn't write it... it was based on a fictional novel by Nikos Kazantzakis. It is not supposed to be an accurate portrayal of Christ's last moments before his death. Instead, we are shown an internal struggle of Jesus as a human searching for his importance as the messiah, and the altered view on mankind that would ensue had he not been crucified. Again, entirely fictional but still very thought-provoking unlike many films in the modern day.
What if Jesus actually came back? No one would agree it was him, they'd be too busy arguing over his message trying to get him into their camp. No one agrees on him as it is. After a short while they'd just crucify him all over again for not being what they want him to be. The real Jesus could never be as good as their idea of him.

see the whole film first before making any criticisms.....he doesn't sin in the film, its more like he imagines what life would be like if he didn't get crucified and lived a normal life....imo, it's like Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life." Arguably the greatest Jesus film ever.
