Mom died in Bremerton, Washington USA on Thursday, 10-27-2011, after a valiant five-month battle with colon cancer. She was 87.
On Saturday, 10-29-2011, my brother Doug (Mom's #2 son) and I (#3 son) climbed into his vintage Bonanza looking for some quiet time. Mom was a very special lady, and among her many accomplishments was earning her private pilot license in 1978.
Doug and I needed some flight therapy today, and as corny as it might sound, we both knew that Mom was in the cockpit with us today.
Quite by chance we met up with two of Doug's flying homies - Jim P and John H - at Bowerman Airport (KHQM) in Hoquiam, WA while having lunch, and practiced some two-ship formation flying with them on our flight back to Bremerton National Airport (KPWT).
This is video #2 of 3 that I shot on the flight back, and shows us taking an intimate look at Lake Cushman, WA. John is the lead pilot today.
Mom, it was a perfect day to be in the air. Thanks for being with us today.
Thanks for being you.
Love always, your sons,
Jerry & Doug
