This video was recorded from the balcony of my room here at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi at a little past Noon on Saint Patrick's Day , Thursday 17 March 2011, using my Kodak Easy Share Z710 digital camera.

Two (02) CSX locomotives, moving unusually slow, and sounding their whistle more than usual, pull a mixed manifest freight train westbound on the old Louisville and Nashville Railroad tracks, as they approach the crossing at Anniston Road.

At the same time, the "Blue Angels" precision flying team of the United States Navy is rehearsing for their scheduled performance at nearby Keesler Air Force Base on Friday 18 March 2011.

On Saturday 19 March 2011, the "Blue Angels" will visit the residents of the Armed Forces Retirement Home.

One of my fellow residents here at the Armed Forces Retirement Home committed suicide at the Anniston Avenue crossing by lying down across the tracks in front of an approaching CSX freight train.

At the time I recorded this video, I had not yet learned how to use my zoom lens in video mode, but now, I do know how.

I learned later that there was a construction crew digging up the road and installing a culvert near the Anniston Avenue crossing.

  • By The Sounds Of It, The Crossing Started VERY Late.
