Of all the singers I've heard sing this aria in my 65 years, she sets the standard by which all other singers are measured against. No one sings it better or as good. Going My Way wouldn't have been as good without her singing this and the Ave Maria with Bing and the young men of that chorale group.

@David50s Thanks for the kind words. She was the rage when I was a teen. Did you see the comment above by SHICOFF1? The Lady is now 97. Tremendous. Happy New Year, Charlie

What a great movie Going My Way is and, this is my favorite scene. What a great performer and what personality (yes, Miss Stevens exuded warmth and vitality in her acting in this film). I have seen Carmen many times but my favorite Habanera is this film version by Rise Stevens.

@navydoctrinidad Glad someone else agrees with me. I find myself avoiding these youngsters, and I simply go back to the tried and true artists of yesterday. That's one reason I admire Marilyn Horne...trying to teach real OPERA to the younger vocalists...God Bless Her! Thanks for posting and comment.

@navydoctrinidad Your most welcome. This last weekend they played the film on TCM turner classic movies and her 1952 Carmen with Rchard Tucker, tenor complete from a Saturday Brdcst was played on the met opera Sirius radio station last month. It was in very fine sound.
Amen. She lends class and talent to everything. See the note above about her logevity. 97. Wonderful. All that deep diaphragm breathing paid off. I was a teen when this great movie came out and she was well known for "Carmen" even before. Brilliant performance. Thank you for the grand comment. Charlie

Yes! There she is..."The Glamor Girl of Opera"...singing in a sexy yet very classy style that I wish we could see in our young singers of today. This style will last FOREVER! There is no reason for these youngsters to appear half nude and expect to be loved over a lifetime. It really bothers me to see the young soprano actually glide into the audience and expect praise and respect in that particular style. YOUNGSTERS...watch this for a great lesson on how to conduct yourselves. BRAVA RISA

1945 and she still sounds great here today, even with the old sound. She is alive and is now 97 years old!
