During their 10/14/2010 debate, Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-NY22) seems confused about the difference between "state taxes" and "estate taxes." He then launches into a complaint about people who are unwilling to "stop rich people from getting richer" though the "necessity of taxation." George Phillips responds by explaining tax policy to Hinchey in terms of the United States Constitution and the intentions of the founders.

  • Wow! What happend to his mind - Hinchey that is. Was he always this much of a loon? He cannot even hear the question and then he doesn't even know what the words mean. He's been there too long - 33 years at least. Folks just retire him. I feel sorry for the guy. He's got to go. Phillips seems somewhat inexperienced but he's at least articulate and knows what he's saying. At least he seems to be able to think.

  • He personally doesn't mind being rich, though, he just wants to make sure nobody else gets that way.
