LakewoodAlive, a nonpartisan economic development corporation, hosted this community forum on Tuesday, November 9, 2010.

To mark Lakewood's five-year milestone as a Main Street™ community, the forum panelists noted revitalization progress-to-date and presented information about future development potential in the downtown business district. Speakers included:

• Joyce Barrett - Executive Director, Heritage Ohio

• Nathan J. Kelly -- Director of Planning & Development, City of Lakewood

• Mary Anne Crampton -- Executive Director, LakewoodAlive

• Trish Rooney -- Executive Director, Lakewood Christian Service Center

The former site of the Bailey Department store, the Bailey Building is the beneficiary of a major rehabilitation investment by the development partnership of Kowit-Passov, which is also upgrading the attached six-story INA Building.

"As exemplified by the Bailey Building renovation, our community has much to celebrate, but there is still much work to be done, "said Jenni Baker, LakewoodAlive board president. "It is important that residents have the opportunity to be informed about and to influence redevelopment pursuits in the heart of the city."

The Main Street Four-Point Approach™ is a disciplined, volunteer-based program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in use by communities across the USA to revitalize and preserve historic downtown districts. Heritage Ohio, based in Columbus, is the oversight organization of the Ohio Main Street Program.

LakewoodAlive is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, 501-(c)(3) economic development corporation whose mission is to improve the quality of life of residents by creating alliances with community leaders, leveraging community assets and expanding the pool of available resources in order to facilitate economic stability and growth in the City of Lakewood.
