I finally got at oppurtunity to test the stove that I recieved from sibiria :-)
The tent stove is made of stainless steel, and build quality seems very good ! I would like to test it against the original tentipåi eldfell stove - to see if the eldfell is worth the extra money .. 350 eur VS 900 eur .....

  • if you insult the stove with large stones you defeat the purpose of having the stove in the tent.

  • @dinnerandashow

Can you explain that ??? I have done so for accumulating heat - for the night ...stones are hot in the morning ..

  • Yup its stainless steel.. - yes its very cosy especially if it rains and is harsh weather outside :)

  • Maybe it was pumping because of a layer of ashes at the bottom blocking the air draft? When you turned the draft around to the top it was burning cleaner and more completely, as shown by the lack of smoke.

  • @matt4270

I think the pumping sound was because the fire inside was demanding more oxygene - than could be sucked in through the vent ... there was no ash ...

and i think it was the woodgas that burned when the ventilation was turned around :-) ...but im not sure

OK, that makes sense. The stones are being heated for later use. For immediate use, the stones impede the heat given off by the stove and act as a insulator.

  • Real russian portable stoves are pretty high-tech. I picked one portable in Germany generating some 50 watts energy while burning wood you can get via connectors. It can power a bulb, to power laptop and recharge a cellphone at the same time.

  • Made from looted restraunt sink =P

  • Its ah boot dryer =p

  • really nice looking stove, would be interested in more details
