America Burning

...this rhyme is a reflection of my ideas and thoughts regarding the future of america. It begins with a dark vision of what could happen if the current reality of ignorance and apathy continues to grow throughout society. I then reflect on possible causes for this proposed future, and touch base on very real present day realities that in my opinion are leading us down a very dangerous path. Concentrating on the negative is not always a healthy way to view the world but if one hopes to see light at the end of the tunnel, you must look at things around you for what they are. Pretending that all will be well and maintaining a "that could never happen" mentality will do nothing to make this world a better place. It is good to be happy and find joy in the world around you, but at some point merely putting a smile on your face is not enough. We all need to come to terms with our own realities and do what we need to do in order to stay positive and be happy, but collectively we are obligated to observe the negative aspects of our society and do something to fix them. Contrary to what most believe, ignorance is not bliss....
