Then, in the American West, there is a new rush -- this time for uranium rather than gold. The push for nuclear energy is making uranium precious, and as the price rises, efforts to get it out of the ground intensify. That's where the trouble starts. Many are saying, 'Not in my backyard!' But what some people are discovering is they don't have a say, even if it is literally in their backyards. World Report premieres every Tuesday on HDNet, and is the only program of its kind to be shown entirely in stunning, 1080i high-definition. For more, go to http://hd.net/worldreport.html
Wind power is disliked by many because they don't like to look at the turbines (Nantucket Sound). Solar panels contain toxic heavy metals like Cd and As. Rare earths mining for hybrid cars and wind turbine magnets causes pollution in China and California. Natural gas burns clean, but nobody wants fracking. Hydropower kills salmon. Coal and oil cause global warming. The Sierra Club is against global warming AND nuclear power. What is the solution? Go back to the stone age?

...and the mining hasn't even started yet. Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has approved a Contested Case Hearing to be held at Goliad Auditorium on May 14, 2009. 21 issues will be addressed by a judge, hearing both sides like a civil trial. This is truly going to make history, as a Contested Case Hearing has never been approved before, though asked for many times.
