  • It is a Dan Bau and it is a Vietnamese musical instrument.

  • yeah it is a very old and antique chinese instrument only with one string. Weird sounding too

  • modality, is not only restricted to western music. Pitch played an important role in chinese culture as well. For example, a new mode was developed after every dynasty on the premise that it will bring prosperity to the new order. I'm not saying that pitch is the only, important factor..but it's one of them for sure!

  • the danbau evolved near and in China, so technically it is a chinese instrument also. Many minority groups in china play the du xian qin.
