i forget who it was that said- "Never argue with an idiot, passersby won't be able to tell which is which"
but I try to remember this thing if I remember nothing else

@cmpresents i must interject. never? have you read the tao te ching, or the quran, or any other prolific spiritual book?
both are full of mysteries, parables, metaphors, allegories, poems, songs, etc, etc.
are you reading with your spirit or your logical mind?
the spirit can see truth wherever it is pointing.

@cmpresents The bulk of Buddah's philosophy was about how this world is ultimately an illusion that one was supposed to free oneself from, in order to escape the supposed wheel of pain and reach enlightenment. Considering that this statement is telling the follower to recognize reality for what it is, it is perfectly in line with his philosophy. You lose.
And I didn't say you were a Muslim, I said you are acting just like one who want's no one comparing his chosen guy to others. Read it again.

@Swordsage I'm no muslim. This are some sayings from Buddha. "Be greatly aware of reality as you meet or confront it each day, and from that become fit enough to deal with it." This is what I mean, this is street philosophy, and it's nonsense. Jesus, never, ever said anything as stupid as this. This is observation philosophy. Why is no good, becase it can't be link to his other philosophies. They are just sayings.

... oh, and one more thing. I never said anything about these other people being messiahs. I mentioned them after you came up with the foolish claim that there were no other famous people like Jesus who spoke in parables, to show you how dead wrong you were. These people are also famous and also spoke in parables, and people follow their words to this day. Period. It's only your gross ignorance of the world around you that prevents you from seeing that.
-
@Swordsage And no, I won't stop comparing any of these people to Jesus, because at the end of the day, all these guys had a certain view of the world that lots of other people latched themselves to. Jesus saying he would provide everlasting life to his followers would sound ridiculous to a Buddhist who are currently following a guy who said he knew the path to enlightenment... which sounds ridiculous to you? Who's right? Honestly, I think all you guys are nuts, you put too much stock in this.
Buddah: "Nothing we see or hear is perfect. But right there in the imperfection is perfect reality". This is the last straw. This one is complete and utter nonsense. Jesus said, "Be perfect as my father is perfect". Jesus wins hands down. Good bye.

@cmpresents Can you see all the colors in the light spectrum? Can you hear all sounds made that even your dog can pick up? Are there such things as mirages? Haven;'t you ever heard something you thought was one thing, and then it turned out to be something else?
For the third time, you lose. In fact, you fail miserably, especailly since you try to use Jesus' line about being as perfect as god to disprove Buddha... when you yourself don't even belief you can be as perfect as God anyway. Sheesh.

Buddha: "STRIVE to be true to the best you know" This another nonsensical saying, if there is no God, this is pure nonsense. Jesus never said anything like this. Jesus is the truth. Of course that is something you don't understand.

@cmpresents How exactly is this pure nonsense? If there is a god, then God would want you to be true to who you are. If there is no god, then you definitely have to strive to be true to who you are, as there is no guiding other wordly power other than yourself to guide you. Not only that, but are you honestly about to tell me that Jesus never wanted his followers to be true to themselves?
Again, you lose.
