STORYLINE:

Germany,

1933
He is against the regime, and loves her, but he's forced to pretend he agrees with hitler's totalitarism.
She is an actress, whose great grandmother was a Jewess. As for the racial law, she won't be considered a Jewess, but she will be discriminated because of her origins.

Their families live in the same big outskirt house, and they've always fancied each other since they were young and they've recently got engaged.
She is blond, fair-skinned and beautiful: she's the right prototype of the perfect arian girl, and that's why she's been employed as an actress.

Both him and her are dissenters.

Wherever they go, they see the symbols of the regime appear everywhere, and she is looked down on from the people who know her origins.

1935
The racial laws are promulgated. The two listens to a hitler's speech during a news programme at the cinema.

1938
He receives a letter that states he has to do the compulsory military service. So he leaves for the military training.

As the months passes by, they both still think of each other, while the racial discrimination gets worse. She gets fired. He meets members of the Resistance (have you seen "Valkyrie"?).

1939
He comes back home to his beloved fiancèe, before going to the battle field.
But days passes too fast and he soon has to leave again. War has been proclaimed.
Unable to control her feelings, she can't help being angry at him because he's leaving her again.

1940
Times goes by. He's at war, and sees all the horrors it.
She goes to an audition, but right after she introduces herself, the man who has previously fired her explains that she doesn't fit the job because of her origins and so she gets expelled from the theatre.
She moves to a little flat in the city suburb, near the ghetto, because she can't keep the house.

1941
He's hit and dies in the battle field, still thinking about his love. She receives the letter that states he's dead.
She remembers all the time together...not knowing that he'll always be her guardian angel.

I wanted to try something that i've never seen before...something more related to history.
I've been doing this video since this summer, and it was meant to be Ari's birthday gift :) well...I'M A BIT LATE...LOL.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUN!!!!

I was about dropping the concept, because i wasn't able to finish it, not having clips related to that historical period. But then Valkyrie came out and solved the problem :)

  • amazing video!

  • What is the title of the film with Emma that you used scenes for you video ?

  • @TheChairmaker that is not so. We knew a number of half jews, socalled mischlinge who were left alone. An interesting book is: HITLER'S JEWISH SOLDIERS.

About 150 thousand jews served in the Wehrmacht, among them 2 Field Marschalls, 15 generals, a decorated U-boat commander and also Admiral Rogge. One of the Field Marschalls was Erhard Milch, inspector General of the Luftwaffe and protege of Goering. Goering made a statement: I decide who is a jew and who ins't.

  • @englishfrenchgerman Hoiw they managed it? Let's see: After the treaty of Versailes Germany was impoverished, destitute, mired in war debts imposed by the Western Allies. People were starving in the streets, the money was worthless, jobs non existent. Into the void stepped Hitler and his propaganda machine aka Josef Goebbels promising jobs, food, self respect and the people fell for it, hook line and sinker. The NSDAP morphed from a political party into a cult.

  • what is this from?

  • aint that harry potter

  • it's brilliant what you did, really.

I knew that parts of it was from Ballet Shoes. But because of the fact i had no idea what the movie was about, i just figured you condensed the movie into a short video. well, i was very wrong lol.

  • To answer the question on how they did it, you must understand the saeculum and the 4 turning of a society. Germany was deep in a crisis cycle, 4th turning and society was willing to embrace any idea that would deliver it out of the hell they were in. They reinvented society (like ALL societies must in the 4th) but instead of like Roosevelt in the US's reinvention, they chose extremism because it provided a way out of it's crisis (or so they thought).

  • really touching, but it should be "Jewish" and not "Jewess".

    Other than that,it's really good,

I'm doing tours at the holocaust musem in the south of Israel and I happened to find this video, even though it's hard for me to see the war from the german side since i'm a Jew myself.

    Keep up the good work!
