I'm a ham radio operator. The license costs $10. TALKING on shortwave to people around the world is way cool! Listening to commercial shortwave broadcasts of religious stuff or whatever....boorrrrriinnnngggg. If you like shortwave, get your ham license and talk with people on it. It's totally worth it. You can meet some interesting people all over the world with it. yes I know you can do that over the interweb but it's not nearly as cool
The first religious station is WYFR located in Oakland California and transmitting from station in Okeechobee, Florida. That florida station has a reciprocol agreement with Radio Taiwan International (formerly Radio Taipei International and earlier yet as Voice of Free China). I assume WYFR b'casts into asia through their transmitters as a dx thankyou.
Announcer over WYFR-Family radio is preacher Dr. Harold Camping

AFC = Automatic Frequency Control
MB = Marine Band
LW = Long Wave (used in Europe-VLF very low frequency 100-500 kHz
AIR = Aircraft band above 108 to about 135 mHz
Pay close attention to the freq dial and as you tune in a b'cast band, tune slowly NOT quickly back & forth. You jump over too many stations that way.
Shortwave uses day and night ranges and it is based on your target region of the planet. Countries b'cast in English here.
I am a SW master email to:xplod19@yahoo.com

Very nice looking set!
AFC = Automatic Frequency control (for FM)
MB = Marine band ie 1.6-4 MHz or so. Worth tuning across occasionally.
