It vibrates (and makes sound) due to being either off center, or unbalanced. Easiest way to balance it out? Add a second board to the other side (because they should be equal in weight and size). Otherwise just weigh it out (ask a chemist to use their scale :P) and add two weights (top and bottom).
What you could try and do, is make a baseplate for it by drilling holes in the bottom to be able to attach it to something at the base to make it stop its rotation. i'd suggest trying a square base plate, or a square base plate with clamps
