Unlike most of the others, D'Angelo wasn't closed off, resigned to the idea that everything is set in stone and can't be different. He had hope for Wallace. He still was capable of sympathy, and he took it to heart when McNulty (or was it Bunk) asked him why couldn't drugs get sold like any other product without the constant killing--he even repeated the question almost word for word to Bodie. I love this moment because he finally raged against 'The Game', stopped accepting it.

D'Angelo is one of the few cats in the drug game who felt sympathy for others...I think he saw Wallace as a kid, maybe as a little brother type...that scene where Wallace is in the pit playing with a toy and D'Angelo looks at him smiling and it's interrupted by Bodie (who throws a liquor bottle at Wallace) says a lot...

my favorite scene from the wire period, LOOK AT ME WHERE!!! THE FUCK IS WALLACE!!! thats the shit, then he says I dont want this payless wearin mutherfucker representin me haha, whole shit is just best scene nuff said
