From: More Than Meets The Eye, Part 1

Shockwave gets left to house-sit. Unfortunately for everybody else, Shockwave was true to his word, and nothing at all changed on Cybertron in 4 million years. Nothing got better, and nobody even went looking for either of the missing ships.

Since he never got an Earth mode, Shockwave's is the first "toy" transform in the series.

  • i guess the normal hand is just another one of the g1 mistakes in animation?

  • @TheXXIV Yep.

  • @AeonMagnus I tend to disagree on that point, purely because, so far I can recall, this is the only time in the cartoon where he has two hands and considering four million years pass by when we see Shockers again, I tend to think he lost/replaced his hand. Of course, such is never explained in the series, just like his fate along many other things left unresolved. (Dion anyone?)

  • @0NightHawk0 If you like. However, if true, he must have somehow "regrew" the missing hand (and subsequently lost it again) a few episodes later for "Divide and Conquer".

G1 wasn't known for being that thoughtful about the smaller details; he was also later seen holding a mini gun-mode version of himself in "Desertion of the Dinobots".

  • @AeonMagnus Ah right, I have forgotten that part...then again I tend to skip that episode due to the...well, over abundance of animation errors and continuity errors.

I think the animators had him hold a miniature version of him for shits and giggles, he is Shockwave after all, he is a gun and has a blaster for a hand, clearly he doesn't need it. But yes, you are correct that they aren't exactly great with the smaller details.

  • @0NightHawk0 Would have been a great idea, and fed into a character background story. Sort of like Animated Ratchet's broken crest. We'd get to see a flashback to the events that ultimately lead to the loss of his hand. However, considering his day appears to be chock full of "nothing", he probably lost it in an accident while making a packet of Pop Secret.

  • @TimeForFunGuy It was originally scripted that he would die in Unicron's attack on Cybertron. However, the scene never made it into the film, leaving it left unresolved. So, if you want him to be dead, he's dead; if you want him to be alive, he's alive.

  • @brickarms666 I don't understand what the voice would have to do with him surviving or not surviving.

  • GOD, i hope Shockwave will be in Transformers Prime

  • And it did, for millions of years. Couldn't Shockwave have cleaned up the place a little?

  • Shockwave and SoundWave where the best 2 decepticons Ever!!!

  • i seen this on kids on demand

  • @AeonMagnus Could always claim that either Elita-1 or her followers chopped it off when they made another run on stealing energon right under Shockwave's nose, bit obvious but it works.

I honestly find it a shame how much Shockers got downplayed in the cartoon, his comic version was far more threatening.

  • all movie shockwave says is: optimus... driller bot is thirsty
