The Dallas Cowboys' center, John Gesek, took off a $5,000 Rolex watch, a gift from running back Emmitt Smith, and twirled it in his hands with pride. He wasn't so enamored of the watch; it was the idea of feeling appreciated.

Appreciation is something offensive linemen secretly crave but rarely receive. He smiled, turned the watch over and pointed to the inscription on the back. It read:

"To John G

Thanks for 1,563 yards

1991 rushing title

Emmitt Smith

#22"

Best fullback in NFL History in my opinion. I'm not saying he's the reason Emmitt got into the hall of fame, but he sure helped block that last guy wherever he was.

smith had one of the greatest offensive lines in the history of pro football, not to mention arguably the greatest blocking fullback of all time. great running back, not to take anything away from him, but he was purely north-south. you can make the argument that sanders was a better running back because he could break tackles for days. personally i'd pick sanders whether i had an o-line or not, but either would be great. just because you have the numbers, it doesn't mean it was all your skill
