This NPN Si transistor Rangemaster clone was conceived by piggybacking two SI transitors for lower gain that is so typical of old germanium devices.

  • Nice, but I think you miss the Rangemaster tone just a bit. Are you using a tube amp? The Rangemaster was designed to be used with a tube amp and overdrive the input stage, so if you're using a transistor amp that could be part of it.

  • It sounds bad but it looks cool though. Try with the Ge transistor as mentionned earlier.

  • ??????

  • it sounds really bad, you should really use the germanium transistors..anyone would work..OC44,AC128,AC187,AC188 ,NKT275 or any other germanium npn transistors..

  • Sorry, bro, but it doesnt sound at all like a rangemaster. It's a cool fuzz pedal that you have there, but NOT Range Master like at all. When you cahnge the transistor, you change the overall type, try again with the correct transitior, and you'll get a lot closer to the sound.

  • it uses transistors such as the AC128 transistor that is used in a fuzz face pedal

  • Great vintage Sound!!

    Good job!!

  • that sounds great! did you made it with germanium transistors?
