@fishpimp100 My little zebra finch Ziz was a pet shop buy, and to this date is the tamest of all my zebra finches. I dont hand rear any baby zebra finches, however all of my baby zebra finches have been very handtame and human friendly. Most of my zebra finches will more than happily eat from my hand as ive built up trust with them over time. I think some of them have a natural predisposition to trust. If you check out my channel you can see various videos of my tamest one Zi he's a sweetheart!
Do you know if you have to have the finch from very young to have it tame? or can you buy a already mature finch and succesfully train it?

@fishpimp100 I have never heard of an adult zebra finch that was tamed. Some other finches, like gouldian finch, Erythrura/Chloebia gouldiae are easier to tame. I know two girls who have tamed their gouldians rather easily. In my opinion (and note, it's just my opinion), zebra finches are extremely hard to tame, but they will get used to people, like our wild zebra finches did. The only really tame finches we've had are the ones we handfed.

Aww cute zebbie! I do love handtame finches!! I tame all of mine, i only have a couple that will have nothing to do with me. I love how yours retains a bond to you alot even in the presence of other finches. My hand tames will happily sit on my hand but if its a choice between me and their flock, 9 times out of 10 the flock wins. Do you think it is because you hand reared yours?
ps How diffficult is it to hand rear, i would like to know in case my finches abandon their nest in future?

@ZizZarkava I think it's because mine are hand reared. Hand rearing is not difficult. You just need a lot of patience and willpower as you have to wake up many times to feed your birds, and if you work or go to school you have to arrange a babysitter. Feeding the tiny birds is extremely difficult unless you can find proper equipment. But the trouble is forgotten as soon as you witness their first, proper flight, and they fly to you. <3
