In this 4-minute video, we interview my cyclo driver in Nha Trang. Mr Dung worked for the Americans during the Vietnam War.
Like other Southern 'collaborators,' he was denied opportunities for employment under the new government. Many, like Mr. Dung, had to make a living as a cyclo driver. It's a hard life, but Mr. Dung kept his sense of humor.

FYI, the cyclo driver mentioned "butterfly" with a slang meaning of "prostitute". Thanks for your posting.

@babehc Many Vietnamese picked up French and English, the languages of the colonizers. This was especially true when many people depended on them for a living. Now that foreign investment and tourists are flooding the country, you'll find that many people, especially the young, have taken up English again. America, and anything American, is "cool" there. Very few people have hard feelings about the war, even though at least a million Vietnamese were killed.

Very good conversation there, Borntowander. It seems you made many trips to VN. Now I know how you look like, the author of the Deja Vu Vietnam series. I watched your informative and impressive video over and over many times, before my first trip back there recently, and still now again. Thanks.
