Blue Tit fight in nest box

Two blue tits having a fight (7th Feb 2009). A blue tit (Harry) has been roosting peacefully in this nest box since October. Unlike previous occupants of the box he (or she) has made quite a mess. Today another blue tit (Elle) started tidying up - but then Harry (or yet another blue tit) returned and after lots of hissing a fight took place. We think Elle won the battle - but then Harry was back roosting that night. The battle continues...

Actually, the one that keeps popping in and out is what we thought was the male. He/she is a lot bigger than the one in that sits in the box, and is definitely the one that sleeps in during the night.

however if the male is stubborn like the male in the video and dosent leave then the female will attack him. the great tits in my video take just 4 days ago do the SWAP OVER brilliantly as can be seen. maybe the male is an immature bird and has yet to get the hang of things, tho he will in the end

i know all too well what is happening here, the bird in the box is a male and when the female the second bird comes in the male is then meant to leave the box and let the female clena up and have a look around the box, its quite hard to tell the sex of bluetits but once the male has brought the female into the box and she likes it she will clean his mess out and she will visit on her own but the male will still bring her in. look at my videos of the great tits and ya can c hw its done properly
