Banana Tree Warehouse Grow - Amazing! - Sunshine Systems - LED Grow Lights

This is a 3 month time lapse video of a banana tree we grew to FRUITION in our warehouse under a GrowUFO and 2 GrowSpots (1 Mixed Spectrum the other 6500K Daylight White).

The Setup:
We purchased the Banana tree from a local nursery on April 13 and brought it into our warehouse to show what our lights can do in even less than ideal environments. The only light the plants were exposed to were our LED grow lights (www.Sunshine-Systems.com). The main lighting source for the banana tree was a GrowUFO directly overhead. The light remained at a fixed distance for the entire duration of the time lapse. When the time lapse cuts to the second camera, you will see a GrowPanel Pro hanging in the distance over a table with plants. This provides lighting for giant aloe, African violets, a Madagascar palm, a raspberry plant, a blueberry plant, succulents, a fern and finally, a jade plant.

For the lighting in the warehouse, we disconnected the overhead 140w fluorescent fixtures in our warehouse and replaced them with our 6500K white GrowUFOs reducing energy use per fixture from 140w to 90w. Besides the significant energy savings, the quality of light in the warehouse is much better. Only the GrowSpots were adjusted to focus on the lower leaves and to also provide lighting for the secondary time lapse camera which was added to provide close up coverage of the bloom, fruits (bananas) and the honey suckle flowers as they were revealed. You will see another GrowUFO lower and to the right of the banana tree over a planter and trellis containing red grapes. You will see very rapid growth of the vines as they grow up the trellis. You will also see that an additional piece of trellis was added to accommodate the rapid growth of the vines/leaves (note:today 10/20/2010 there are three piece of trellis and we truly have a 'living wall' indoors. We wanted this to be a natural time lapse so the viewer could see the 'behind the scenes' of how it was done. There are people going about their day to day work in the background and things moving and growing all over. This time lapse was setup in our warehouse to show you the amazing growing power of our lights without professional editing staging. Therefore, you may see a jitter or two in the camera as it was accidentally knocked or rotated. The video speaks for itself. The light was anywhere from 3-5 feet. It started from 5 feet away and the tree grew upwards towards the light. By the time the tree was harvested the GrowUFO was 3 feet about the tree.
