http://www.TheGrindVideo.com It's no secret that in Judo you have a very limited amount of time on the mat. Therefore you must take your shot and perform your technique. The thing about judo is that sometimes you just don't have the time to set things up as perfect as you would like them to be because of time constraints. Therefore you have to make some adjustments to the move and the movements in order to perform them in a judo match. Often times this means doing a move and playing the percentage game. Meaning that you are gambling that the percentage of people who know the counter to the oma plata are in the population that you are fighting :-) More often than not, judo players just don't know the counters to ANY ground technique, let alone one like the oma plata. Therefore you can get away with some things in judo that you just wouldn't be able to get away with in BJJ. Please recognize that this technique was tweaked for Judo. I am very well aware that my arm is also open to get countered with oma plata. ;-) But most judo players just don't know that so I gambled.
