Why would anyone ever do this?

@Discursus: same here :)

And I thought how to make mechanical tetris without electricity. Only mechanics. But I can not build its own.

Electromagnets might work, then the blocks can grip each other whilst being held by the arm, then release when dropped, and re-attach to each other in a horizontal line. If the entire line clings together, then it could be slid off horizontally by another mechanism which could collect the seperate blocks and redistribute them back to the top

Well, you could always make the blocks several 1x1 squares, held togethetr by arms... That might work, then you could remove them
-
Why not add a bar to push the blocks off when you make a line?

How would that work? The blocks are solid, you can't just remove a horizontal line from them.
