for the first 1.5 year, we had a cook
the last 1/2 of retreat, we cooked ourselves

ya, the 2 months of solidite-never talking or seeing anyone-that was really intense...just made me think of "solitary confirement" for prisioners in jail...that is really a creul punishment especially for people who don't ask for it, like we did
