Live and Let live the basic principle of Jainism is the most important teachings to the world.Hardly anywhr you will find a Jain involved in any heinous crimes or associated with terrorism the most peaceful and prosperous religion on Earth

agree with you aliir2.Unlike other religions ,most of the teachings are totally based on science every thing mentioned in the scriptures are published by learned scholars with lots of scientific study thousands of years back .It was already written in Jain scriptures that earth revolves around the Sun thousands of years before Galileo discovered telescope to prove it .

if you really want to look the way science do it. Atoms are discovered in jainism thousands of years ago (although at that time jainism doesn't have its identity as jains officially). Jainism suggest to filter water from thousand of years. if you want to know more I am happy to reply.

@100ANX when people attain higher states as guru, at one point of time they stop taking even milk and other vegetables. And about the dairy products, one takes the product when it is in its maryada i.e. within the time till the growth of micro organism is negligible. Most of the jains doesn;t take dairy products other than milk or butter. Only eating habits constitutes the small portion of the motto "Live and let live". One have to get control over all its senses.

@100ANX It's not about winning noble prize it's about live & let live and this is one such motto and there and many more. So, one must avoid the violence upto the level he can. In jainism that's why one decides not to eat the root vegetables which are not ribosomes. The reason for that to eat them you are killing a plant since you are taking out a plant from the soil and secondly, the amount of organism content is much higher in root vegetables.
