Perhaps not as many women artitst's work was in the MFA because there weren't enough Women ( for whatever reason) making quality art.
There still aren't. The majority of female artists I'm aware of are Audio-Visual hacks, or think crushing eggs under their armpits while dancing to 'Gloria' is a bold conceptual statement.

It's because women are not encouraged to "do" but rather be "seen" by society. Think about it. Men's magazines are about playing instruments, building things, or playing sports. Women's magazines are focused on make up, fashion, and how to please men. When a person is raised with the idea that only their looks are the only real quality that matters, they won't go on to do great things.

So you're advocating racial and gender quotas on the artwork that museums except?! That's stupid and bigoted beyond words. Stay out of the art world you sexist and racist dumbass!

and before anyone else goes on that sad predictable anti-femminist propaganda, why not simply open a histoy book. And, understand a small thing as socialization and the influence of insitutionalized inequality. Also, let me state for every man who fought in previous wars, who aided them, nursed them, worked in the factories to enable the ablity of society continued stablity. Are we that scared of women in proclamination of themselves, thank god for men who are secure enough in their masculinity.

Avery, first let me state it's fine to have a differing opionion, but your blantl disrespect and obvious misgony come glaring through. When you blanket a entire gender has having not enough talent to gather appreciation. As, for your psuedo-intellecual attempt at calling the femminist movement a act of rigor of superiority, and not a affirmation of equality is a joke. Your logic is convoluted and trite at best. Why don't you apply that western education, and learn to create a proper argument.

agreed, what society has ever said that to the non-appreciation of women?

feminism, my dove, is the artificial supression of maleness because women can't compete on an equal playing field.

The best of what's been said and written used to be the cornerstone of eucation, and then you anti-western thugs tried to redfine what is watchable by the speaker or the writer, not the content, same with visual art, women produce a lot of crap, they don't deserve an audience
