1) Canoes are "displacement hulls", not "planing hulls".
2) You can put as much power on it as you like - it will never plane.
3) Nor will weight, hydrofoils OR fins change that fact.

...All you need now is a fat beer drinker to weigh the bow down, Lol!

I have the same canoe. Will using a higher rated motor damage the transom in anyway? Do you know?
-
My design worked! Just be sure to have some way to weigh down the bow, depending on what motor you install.. Greatest little boat for cruising on big rivers.

@Sarcasticscum when i get my scanoe thats what i want to do let me know how it works!!!

I have an ancient Old Town that I'm about to convert.. I believe it's a '73? Really old fiberglass canoe. Looks like new until you see the stern, which is GONE. I rebuilt it to a point and flattened it off. Looking for a decent outboard motor.. I integrated a box in the front of mine, and I can just fill it full of weights or something to keep the hull down.

how long is that canoe?

Fast! 10hp FUNNY, Will that void the warranty? HAHA!

@eatmydirt85 True, but just someone on the front does a great job, especially if they lean forward. This is just funny to watch cause it sticks up so much.
