Firefighters performed rescue breathing on a dog that was found unconscious/unresponsive in a house fire. The dog was found at the backdoor in the kitchen, pulled from the building with minor burns and initially had a respiratory rate of 40+. Firefighters performed rescue breathing for approx. 12 minutes and as you can see survived. The owner was not home at the time so we decided to bring the dog back to the firehouse for dinner and water.

I want to hug these guys! Thank you so much for saving this dog! Typical Pit Bull, as soon as she's coming round the tail's wagging! This is why I love fireman, decent and truly brave men. Compared to the other uniformed service, the trigger happy police, who can't wait to shoot any Pit Bull stone dead & I'm sick of hearing about the casualties. These firemen did the right thing, & deserve a medal for their wonderful attitude and respecting that all life is sacred . Bless you all.

Also, there was another Pit they found which we also took, but we had to give her away because she attacked our current dog. And she went to a good place!

That's not necessarily true about the police. Before my Pit was my dog she was wandering the streets. They found her and took care of her for as long as they could and my dad, also a cop, took her home.

I can sort of see that the dog is very grateful for the help!

because even when a human or dog etc. is breathing on their own, their respiratory system can still fail within the first several minutes of self respiration.
