  • let me guess: the spider is U.S.A and the ladybird is Japan, right?

Honestly, from everything I've read about this cartoon, I think you're reading a bit too much into it. Finding symbolism, where little, or none was intended.

Unquestionably, the "negro" spider was racist, but much less so than many American 'toons of the same era. And vastly less so, than was typical of other Japanese war time productions.

The history of this anime is very well documented. Google it, for some interesting reading.

  • @LordPantaloons Also, the piece shows a theme in many Japanese film pieces, which is that they must work together.

Not only that, but the film also shows that after the flowers protect little Tulip, nature starts punishing the spider. This shows that the natures are on the Japanese side against these Western powers.

  • @skeilak @skeilak Actually, this movie is also a propaganda piece. Notice that the spider seems like a "black face" man. Also, the spider is also an evil character, trying to trick the innocent little Japanese "lady"bug.

Not only is this piece showing that the Westerners were tricksters, but also that the Westerners, were racist. Not only were the racist against the Japanese, but among themselves as well.

  • I find it amusing that so many comments are based purely on conjecture.

You people are assuming up the wazoo!

No one will ever know what it was truly based on

Get off your damn soap boxes people!

  • I'm pretty sure this is abou WW2, the spider sybolizing Americans, while the ladybug symbolizes the Japanese. Honestly though, it looks like a pedophile warning to me.

  • @beefheart22 This is from before robots, lasers or schoolgirls were invented.

  • すっごいクォリティだなあ

    戦争中によく作れたなぁ。

  • @3636jae Because I grew up with them . I am in my 40's now. I said it not to bash them , i said it out of fact , history and socialized behavior. They are the 2nd most homogenous society next to jewish people.

  • @Maxantium

Why do 95% of Asians hate Blacks.

I see more Asians dating and marrying the same White man that melted their faces off.

Asians want half White Children...I can't say all of them but it sure seems that way.

Asians want to get eye enlargements to look more White, they hate their eyes and are taught bigger more open eyes is more trust worthy= self hatred and white is superior>shows a major trait of ignorance.

And they hate Blacks.. Why?, most Blacks are not interested in them anyway.

  • the ladybird is cute beyond belief
