Fair enough. I may have come off a bit too strong in my first remark, But yours was the first comment on this video, and I thought the work didn't need fodder for all kinds of cretins that lurk around YouTube that will jump on anything and hate on it.

There are both subjective and objective aspects to art, and they are not only both valid but equally important in understanding the work.

If anybody thinks I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

    Cheers!

    No, you're right- I'm sorry! I think I didn't word myself correctly.

I agree with what you're saying and understand this is his method of expressing himself.

And as far as "soul" is concerned I mean that as a human element, not religious. Thanks for all your insight. :)

In that case it would be you conducting in self-affirmation in relation to your worldview, which has even less to do with this piece by Patrick Tresset and makes it disingenuous to tell me to put my ego aside.

I think that the artist made an interesting journey and found a fascinating way of fighting through his condition and re-channeling his creative ability.

If however all you meant to say was that at some point in the future there will be robots, and they will be creating art, then they will not ever match human's level of thinking... well.. that is a speculative though experiment that has little to do with this art piece.

Besides it still being invalid as you can't know how AI will develop.

And if you really want to drive your reasoning in the direction of the "Soul" by way of religion or other metaphysics... well... I that's where I step out.

I don't think I did. I think you make an invalid point. I explained why.

You miss the point of works like these, musing about robots or machines matching people, it is not what it's about. Looking at the comments of others trying to point this out to you doesn't really make me wonder if I am understanding what you wrote.

And it has nothing to do with my ego either, I have been exposed to works like these extensively, even though having a fairly classical art education.

In the end, that robot is just an extension of the human that built it. You wouldn't take away your pencils, pens or brushes, likely all made by robots. So why can't a robot act the same way?

I'm not talking about the creation of a robot. I'm talking about the inevitable upcoming of a robot creating art by observation. I'm trying to say humankind will not be matched my machines when it come to the arts.

I think you completely misunderstood what I wrote. Please reabsorb it, only this time put your ego aside.
