1999, July 2 - Washington, D.C. Florea Turuianu, the vǎtaf (leader) of Cǎluşul, demonstrates a short sequence of steps. Cǎluş is a Romanian ritual dance performed to bless the people and crops for the upcoming year.
Căluşul is a village folk ensemble from Optaşi, Olt, Romania. The group was in Washington, D.C. for the Smithsonian's annual Folklife Festival.
