We pulled this late model Macintosh SE out of the truck it sat in for several years and decided to see if the dirt and grime encrusted old hulk would boot up. We knew the risks, and even if it had blown up with sparks and smoke, we still wouldn't have lost anything, as it was pretty much declared DOA when we picked it up.
Most of the files dated back to the 1990s, and the machine's 40 MB hard-disk was practically barren besides the operating system and a few programs. The vertical height had to be adjusted, but that was simple. The only hardware failure on the entire system was the SuperDrive, which works intermittently and is slightly stuck.
