U8 was the first ultima i played. think i was 13 at the time? anyways, just watching this gives me crazy nostalgia. the graphics dont put me off AT ALL watching this video. you can just feel that ULTIMA atmosphere oozing from this game. the following years i went on to play Black Gate and Serpent Isle along with both expansions. The best rpg series of all time. Period.

Our world is a true sandbox offering actual land for housing, mortal guards in towns, so if you commit a crime you will have a fighting (or running) chance. 600 stat cap, no skill cap. RPG server, PKing and PVP allowed any time anywhere except for starting town.

No matter how good graphics get, these old games will continue to live on in our memories as some of the best because they are partly a product of our imagination which realism can never touch.

This is the only Ultima game I've ever played and I love it (I tried to play Ultima 7 but I didn't like the graphics at all), I played U8 when I was like 13 (I'm 25 now) and I remember I was so amazed by this game... I mean just the idea of falling into a new strange world... alone, without any clue of what to do... that was so aweso and new for a videogame at that time. The atmosphere in this game is perfectly well done. I wish some game company does a remake of this game that would be so cool!
