1967 Oldsmobile Custlass

This care seems to be more rare around here, the third generation '68-'72 seem to be more common than these cars, so i felt i just had to get this one on video, it has some custom touches like the tires and rims, but nothing drastic, overall seems like a nice car, and i rear it was the first year for optional disc brakes, and the three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic (automatic) to supplement the previous 2 speed Jetaway (automatic) also for '67 there was unusual new model it was called the Turnpike Cruiser it was a trim level on the Cutlass Supreme coupes and convertibles, it seems to have copied the earlier Mercury Turnpike cruiser name that Ford introduced for the '57-'58 model years, also '67 marked the second year of the Oldsmobile 442

  • Nice one, Brent! Beautiful paint and body work on that one! Looks like it had a vinyl top at one time..the trim remains. Love the A&W collectibles and drive in tray! I have a drive in tray too! :) Jack

  • and thanks for the comment Jack, and i didn't notice that trim, i seen it, but i didn't really connect a vinyl top with it, it doesn't look have bad on the car, even with no vinyl, you could really use it to give it a nice white roof! i just like that white top tu-tone look! :)

  • Hey, Brent! Interesting point about the Canadian A&W! One thing..I'm alergic to root beer and birch beer...my throat closes right up! Always loved the stuff, but just can't drink it! Yeah..I think that top would look good in white, following the lines of the old vinyl top! :) Jack

  • oh yeah i forgot about that, you mentioned you where allergic to root beer, i just did some reading on Wikipedia about birch beer, In Pennsylvanian a ice cream soda made with vanilla ice cream and birch beer is called a Red Bull, while chocolate ice cream and root beer makes a Black Cow, i learn something new every day! :) and i would hate to be allergic to root beer! its a great beverage, but it seems people can become allergic to things at any point in life

  • oh god what all i would give to be a teenager in the 70s instead of now so i could have this car and drive it to school everyday ! beautiful car man love it!!

  • yep same here, they had much better used cars back then!, also i wouldn't of had to restore my truck! but i am lucky, i have a father to help me restore my '77 F-150 swb 4x4, i just didn't like the options i had for used cars around here, everything was late 80s or 90s, and i didn't want to sink money into something i hated, so i got what i got, and i am happy! :)

  • Beautiful car. I remember riding in one similar to it when the car was new. Yep, I'm a "old head"

  • Very nice. I have a '66 F-85, myself, though not nearly that clean.

The 4-4-2 option came about in '64, essentially a police-package-equipped Olds A-body (bigger brakes, front and rear sway bar, stiffer suspension, etc). In '68, it became its own model, rather than an options package available on the Cutlass or low-trim F-85.

Interesting Olds trivia: the 4-4-2 package (through '66) was available on -any- body style, not just hardtops and convertibles.

  • Check out my You tube videos on the Cutlass" Car show" August 15th @4:46 minutes and at the" Wired Monk " August 2nd the same car again.

  • My friends mom has one just like that but it's medium blue also a 2 door hardtop; she bought it new way back in 67 and takes it to car shows I have a couple of videos of it on my channel

  • Hey, Brent! Never heard of the Red Bull, but I have heard of the Black Cow! Too bad I can't take advantage of what would be great drinks! Yeah..allergy can come and go...and appear anytime during life! :) Jack

  • yep and the Great Root Beer bear is still a hallmark in the Canadian A&W's, it actually started in the Canadian chain in 1974 and was later adopted into the U.S. where i hear the bear has been dropped in the U.S. chain, but in the 90's the Canadian franchise was sold, same name, same product, but different owner than the U.S. chain, also we have a slightly different emblem on the stores, just look up A&W on Wikipedia, you can read all about our Canadian version, and thanks for your comment
