Economics professor Matt collects waste vegetable oil to fuel his converted diesel car. He saves money and helps to minimize his impact on the earth by using his veggie car.
but i will tell you this allot of people are careless they get grease all over the car the steering wheel it ends up on the seats the dash board keys get all nasty the headliner its crazy
Finally, if you wanted to turn even greener, you might want to check for a new vehicle: replacing your 3 liter MB with another old car with 2 liter diesel engine (like the old 1.9 TDI); this would improve your fuel efficiency while adding a few HP.
What is more, before filling the tank you should have had the ground covered to prevent oil leakage. And don't tell me you're gonna fertilize the plants with that compost. How the plants are supposed to elicit a long-chain breaking reaction? Don't pollute your compost with the oil wastes unless you have long-chain-breaking bacteria, hopefully.
There are a few flaws of your oil-processing idea. First of all, it's not advisable to keep oil supplies near the swimming pool. Oil leak is unavoidable and probably imminent. You should keep your barrels in the place which would protect the environment, supposing all the barrels cracked at the same time and everything leaked out. Although it's less likely to occur, but there'd be no risk though.
Thereto you need an additional fuel-heating equipment which practically allows you to run the engine even in freezing winter temperatures. There are people who uses the filtered used cooking oil to power up their older diesel cars. Newer cars are too sensitive even for the used filtered cooking oil, but still can run on new cooking oil or the biodiesel fuel that is made from plants, cooking oil, or fat collected from the fat-removal clinics and processed by a special apparatus.
In Europe more than half of total cars are diesel powered. Every single diesel engine can run on cooking oil (clean of course). You can buy a can of cooking oil, pour it to your diesel car tank and the motor would run even smoother. However, there is one condition: cooking oil thickens at much higher temperatures than diesel, therefore even +41°F would be critical.
In America diesel cars are pretty rare not to speak about the fact that it can run on oil. Your idea is not new, but in the states it's original for sure.
Diesel motor was invented with the intention to consume oil wastes. Only later it was discovered it is cheaper to run on the petroleum-related oil. As the gas prices goes up, people repeats the history and returns to diesel vehicles.
This is fantastic! Bravo! I first read about this in Mother Earth News some years ago. Great video.
