@puntlandGeezer what was the original goal of SNM? As far as I know their goal was to liberate the country from dictator Siyad just like others SSD, USC, etc. It was Cali Mahdi who distroyied somalia by backstabbing Caydiid. As far as I see Somaliland is a temporary solution, which potentially may become permanent. Everything depends on other somalis. Please fix your part of the country! And thell hawiye to stop incase this killing.

SNM wanted to create a country for the Isaaq tribe. Nothing wrong with that. Now that they have the opportunity, why do they want to drag Dhulbahante, warsangale & others a long their road, a road that no one knows where it will lead to, and why would anyone go along with an experiment to break away from ones own country?

in May 1991 Issaq leaders of the SNM Movement met in Hargeisa to declare independence from the rest of Somalia. They seccessionists decided that the best thing for them was to break-away from rest of Somalia while they since Siyad Bare was just over-thrown, and their new country should consist all of the land of the old British Colony known as Somaliland.
